It’s time to vote for the winners of this year’s MCV/DEVELOP Awards!

With the shortlist for the 2024 MCV/DEVELOP Awards announced last week, no doubt you are keen to have a say as to which of the finalists will be heading home on June 20th with at least one more trophy to go in the reception area cabinet. (Or to use as a doorstop elsewhere in the building, should it be needed – we do like our awards to be useful, after all.) To that end, you’ll be pleased to know that online voting can now commence!

The process of registering your vote is very simple. Simply go to https://mcvdevelopawards.com/vote, select your choice of winners in as many categories as you feel appropriate, then enter your details and you’re done.

Please make an effort to enter your full name and job details so we can be sure your vote is eligible. If you work in a contract or freelance capacity, please make it known. Votes from those not directly working in or aligned to the games industry are welcome, but will not be counted among the deciding votes.

Votes will no longer be counted from midday on Monday 13th May, and this year we won’t be extending the deadline, so be sure to get your support out before then.

At the same time as the online vote, a select jury of MCV/DEVELOP winners and finalists from previous years will cast a separate ballot. The results of both will decide this year’s winners, to be revealed on June 20th at the MCV/DEVELOP Awards ceremony in London.

If you’re curious about how votes will be counted, it’ll be similar to the Eurovision Song Contest, with the finalists assigned a number of points depending on how they rank in terms of the number of votes cast. If a category has eight finalists, for example, then the finalist with the most votes will be assigned eight points, with seven points going to the finalist with the second-most number of votes and so on. A second round of points will be distributed in line with how the jury places its votes, with a greater or lesser weight attributed to them depending on the category.

On behalf of all the finalists, thank you for your careful consideration.

If you’re umming and ahing about coming along to this year’s awards, be aware that table places have been selling like proverbial hot cakes since the finalists were announced, so you may like to register your interest sooner rather than later.
