Hey all, I’m back for this week’s Anime Sunday with a look at the upcoming season. It’s my Most Anticipated Summer 2023 Anime.

Liar, Liar

This is a series that has an interesting premise, on a school island called “Academy” where students compete to determine their school rankings. Someone comes in as a brand new entrant and destroys the record for holding the top score and becomes the highest ranked student in the fastest time ever. But it’s all a lie, or so the summary said. So this series piqued my interest, and I’m going to be interested in watching it.

Last Boss Queen

This is a series that I’ve never heard about, but sounds incredibly interesting. A girl on reaching age eight remembers her past life and realizes where she is, in an otome game and she’s the final boss. Realizing how stupid it is to continue down that road, she decides to become beloved around the kingdom instead.

Tsuyokute New Saga

This is an adaptation of a light novel series that I read the first volume for over a decade ago, and never continued due to the translator just not continuing to translate it. So I’m interested if this series can still hold my attention a decade later. We will see.

Honorable Mentions:

Rurouni Kenshin: I totally wasn’t expecting this to be on this list as I had no clue they were adapting the sequel series to one of my favorite anime/manga of all time. This is getting on here just for being something completely unexpected.

Fate/Strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn: As long-time readers might know, I’m a sucker for any TYPE-MOON series, so this caught my eye. The only reason it’s in the honorable mentions category is the fact that it’s merely an OVA and not a full series.
