Hey all, I’m back with another film from the late 80’s for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s When Harry Met Sally.

Plot: The plot is pretty standard Rom-Com, and it deals with Harry and Sally as they meet for the first time and then continue meeting over the course of years with Sally believing men and women can’t be friends without romance. That is utterly not true at all by the way. Frankly, I’d probably never cover this movie, but I saw it again after many years, so it was on my mind.

Casting: Billy Crystal is Harry, while Meg Ryan is Sally. The rest of the cast is pretty great too. Carrie Fisher of all people is in the cast as a side character, which was a shock to me as I didn’t remember her being in the cast after having not watched the movie once in over 15 years prior to about a month ago.

Cinematography: There isn’t really anything special in this film art or special effects wise. Nor is there any groundbreaking camerawork, which isn’t a surprise given that this is a romantic comedy and not a sci-fi or fantasy film.

Music: The music was good and fits the theme of the movie well.

Overall: If you enjoy romantic comedies, then this one is probably one of the best. Rom-Coms really are not my thing, but even I thought that this one wasn’t too cringe worthy, which is saying something.

For those who like: Rom-Coms, Drama, and a Great Cast.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
