AWS for Games to spotlight generative AI at GDC 2024

With the annual Game Developer Conference (GDC) just days away, Amazon Web Services (AWS) for Games is ramping up to host exciting technology demonstrations and programming focused on evolving industry trends, including generative artificial intelligence (AI). From March 18-22, AWS for Games invites developers to connect with its team and see new AWS for Games and partner solutions in action at the Play and Learn Lounge (Moscone Convention Center West Hall #WL2-4, level 2), and check out a range of AWS-sponsored sessions covering customer and service advancements in game development. The company will also host a Women in Games Panel and Networking event on Monday, March 18, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm; register here.

AWS Play and Learn Lounge activities

AWS generative AI specialists will be on hand in the Play and Learn Lounge throughout GDC, demonstrating how large language models (LLM) and generative AI services enable non-player characters (NPCs) to be more dynamic and intelligent. Attendees can also check out Ada, a prototype in-game NPC powered by the MetaHuman Animator in Unreal Engine and Amazon Bedrock. Another demonstration will allow lounge visitors to play video games streamed from Amazon Luna while learning about the studios and services involved in the development process.

Attendees can also get an overview of the latest guidance from AWS experts on dynamic NPC dialogue on AWS, the creation of personalized avatars with Amazon SageMaker, and multiplayer session-based game hosting on AWS.

AWS Partner Showcase

On Wednesday, March 20, AWS for Games will host a Partner Showcase from 5:00-8:00pm for game developers looking to leverage the latest tools in the cloud and network with industry peers. AWS will be joined by game studios and technology partners for panel discussions on generative AI, cloud game development, and building game development backends. Featured partners include Perforce, JetBrains, Incredibuild, AccelByte, Pragma, Heroic Labs, Scenario, NVIDIA, Modulate, and Endava. Be sure to RSVP here if you plan to attend.
