Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions by Removing Small Obstacles

Brand Game Development

We all have a tendency to make mountains out of molehills sometimes. The biggest killers of productivity are, at their core, really simple, such as noise, interruptions, and temptations of the Internet. After all, what destroys perfectly good new year’s resolutions are usually flashy events or crises. It’s tempting to ask “how to I become more motivated” or “why am I so lazy?

Why is it that on every side it feels like things are slipping away, and yet at the same time it feels like we’re caught in an interminable stasis?

Texture Compression on Apple M1

In the previous post I did a survey of various GPU format compression libraries. I just got an Apple M1 MacMini to help port some of these compression libraries to it, and of course decided to see some performance numbers. As everyone already noticed, M1 CPU is quite impressive. I’m comparing three setups here: MacBookPro (2019 16", 8 cores / 16 threads).

What do you think what lies beyond these well-known words "Camera, Action!"? Most people can hardly imagine what it is. How is it possible? Filmustage

Have you ever thought about how a film script usually looks? How many details do the screenwriters provide in the text? Do they report every single element you see in the scene? Not really. Sometimes the scene can be described only briefly, with some phrases as simple as "Jane is at the party” – but after the filmmaking crew has worked on the script during pre-production, the full set dressing comes out.
