Updates on the release cycle – and Godot 2.0.1

Mircosoft Game Dev

The stable release of Godot 2.0 was nine months in the making and brought a great deal of new features and bug fixes alike. Some of our users had been testing the alpha and beta versions, but others had decided to stay on the stable 1.1 version and thus had to wait quite a long time for bug fixes. We therefore decided two important things for our release cycle: Shorter release cycle.

Sirlin on Game Design, Ep 15: Heroes of the Storm

Sirlin

We discuss the design of Heroes of the Storm. It's a bold entry in the MOBA genre and impresses us greatly. Godot aims for mainstream

Mircosoft Game Dev

Edit: This was of course a joke for April Fools' Day 2016. Stay tuned for some real news though, as an asset sharing platform is being worked on for Godot 2.1. After attending this year's GDC , we realized that Godot, though a good engine that we believe ready for the industry, is still hardly known by professional game developers. The most important feedback we got is that Godot is different from the most popular game engines, and thus confusing.
