Update & thanks to everyone who’ve played my games
2020 just flew by really quickly, and I know folks struggled through it. As for myself, I have been busy from late 2019 through in 2020 with a lot of work outside of game development. Out of necessity to provide for my family.
Once in awhile I check the sales figure or press coverage to see how my old games are doing, and surprisingly, players still buy and play my games, and some are even kind enough to leave positive reviews. It means a great deal to me, as it keeps my dream of being a gamedev alive.
Recently, our life situation has changed and I have been able to focus on being a gamedev again, and picked up where I left off on the next space epic.
It will feature our three main factions from Star Nomad 2 (Empire, Omni & Starborn), along with several alien species, and a host of many other smaller factions, vying for survival or conquest on a grand star map.
I love the aesthetics & lore of these major factions so I wanted to develop them further. As for the main gameplay, it will be a huge starmap filled with many systems, each with planets & moons that can be developed with resource, production and orbital facilities (shipyards, sensors, tradeports and defensive platforms).
The playstyle can best be described as a real-time (with pause) Total War campaign map, with instanced battles that are also real-time with pause. So unlike Total War or other 4X games, it will not be turn based as I feel it can slow down too much in the mid and late game, the biggest drawbacks of games of this genre and something I found to be unfun, despite these games having an excellent early game.
It’s coming along, but with 3 kids and being the home dad taking care of all the housework, progress is slow so I do not know when I will have it playable for beta or early access for players.
In the meantime, I just want to say thank you to any of you guys who have played my games and left a nice review, and particular to those who get their friends to try it. Also, to the game press, for giving my games some coverage, thank you.
It’s good to know you’re doing fine! 2020 was quite the year, the idea for the game sounds better and better. I like the feature of neutral enemies (short-lived allies?) to the 3 main factions. It make things less easier for two factions to overrun the other one and end in a 1v1.
Don’t worry about an early alpha/beta ,we can wait. x3
Good luck with the game!
I really love Star Nomad 2 and am hoping that one day you will make a 3rd installment?
I have no PC and cant play Star Sector, all I have is my Android Tablet so your game is an epic find! It wasnt until 3 days ago that I discovered Star Nomad 2 and I am flat out hooked on this game, it is awesome. Im not very far into it yet, but honestly I have no complaints about it, perhaps 1 small gripe, if I try really hard to find anything to gripe about in the first place, but the news messages that appear on screen can be distracting at times. Well, thats it lol Not really a big deal.
What makes Star Sector so appealing to gamers of that genre is the fact it is open world/space, an rpg, many ships and weapons, factions, etc. You get the idea, anyways, your game is the closet thing to Star Sector we have. Think what you want but nothing else in the google playstore comes close to that game, except what you have created, Star Nomad 2. BTW, I looked for Star Nomad 1 and couldnt find it anywhere? I would like to own that also. But to my point, we need a Star Nomad 3, or at least, I need it lol
Polish the artwork and UI, secret ships/weapons, perhaps the ability to zoom out a bit as everything seems kinda close?
I had an idea that would, at least I think it would be cool, is a nemesis that can randomly appear on screen to hunt the player down for a kill. But think about it in terms of the treasure goblin from diablo. If you can kill the nemesis before he escapes, there could be a percentage chance of it dropping a rare, unique or legendary weapon for your ship? But the Nemesis itself is also rare to see?
Just a thought, I have a million of them ha!
Anyways, thank you so much for creating Star Nomad 2, it is by far my favorite game to date and Ive been gaming since 1982.
Hi, Devs iys 2022 and its 7 years but still played your game, I read your updates and so amazed. Wishing you good health and wealth do that gamedev like you can make awesome games like this, your game has been my saviour to my deppressions during this pandemic, please forgive me if I share your file to some Muslim community that makes them happy and busy. I would like to ask if you can add a weapon that could capture enemy ships, I love Zerkers and would love to see biotic Alien sector to come out and have trades and bought their ships. Your game is simple but better and would like to stay like that but only add some few weapons, ships, Factions and small factions to own, Im a Christian living in a comunity of Muslims and happy to buy your game no matter how expensive that is to help you. GOD BLESS
Update:
Because of the constant vulgar language and blasphemy, none of my children will be able to play Star Nomad 2, nor will my wife play it now. Thats 3 purchases you could have earned yesterday. None of my other Family members or friends will play this either because of the constant vulgar language and blasphemy. Thats close to 20 more purchases you have lost out on…
Maybe in the future, think about that? I mean, you are segregating yourself from an entire fan base and only being availible to those without morals. Thats money lost and a huge shame considering how good Star Nomad 2 is. It doesnt need that kind of language, normal language would suffice.
Honestly, if google would allow it, Id get a refund
Bad guys insult with flavorful language.
