  • Release Date: April 28, 2023
  • Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Developer: Respawn Entertainment

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was initially unveiled at Star Wars Celebration and is now in development by Respawn, is finally on its way. The events of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, are planned to occur five years after the conclusion of the first adventure starring protagonist Cal Kestis.

The release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s sequel, which was scheduled for March 2023, has been pushed back to late April. The much-anticipated Star Wars: Jedi Survivor has been given a solid release date of April 28, 2023.

Cal Kestis, along with his dependable droid BD-1, stars in the game once again. Cal is believed to keep grappling with the gravity of his status as one of the few Jedi that are still alive in the galaxy, even as he works to get one step ahead of the Empire’s hunt for him. While this is a fresh game, Cal is going to need a brand-new lightsaber as well. This is because the growth path must be restarted, and the trailer provided a brief peek at one of the enemies, a one-armed Sith.

The core mechanics from the first game are still present in Survivor. It does, however, expand the game’s rgb lightsaber combat options by adding five new postures for using Kestis’ powers. When facing off against varied foes, players will need to carefully consider the optimal weapon and fighting style for the situation.

Until now, Cal’s Force abilities have remained unrevealed, but it’s safe to assume that more will be unlocked as the game progresses. An ascension cable, functioning like a grappling hook, is now available to players, expanding their parkour options.

Although the plot details are currently unknown, we can assume that Survivor will build upon the combat introduced in Fallen Order and will feature new characters and storylines from the Star Wars world. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s story and secret features will likely be revealed to fans in the following months, while Respawn Entertainment is free to keep them under wraps if they so desire.

  • Star Wars: Hunters

  • Release Date: 2023
  • Platforms: Android, Nintendo Switch, iOS
  • Developer: Zynga

Star Wars: Hunters, which has been in production for five years since it was first announced in February 2021, will finally launch in 2023. Star Wars: Hunters, created by Zynga, is a fresh take on the series, although it’s being released exclusively for mobile devices as well as the Nintendo Switch.

The video game’s timeline overlaps with that of The Mandalorian, taking place between the incidents of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. There’s a good chance it won’t explicitly address canon aspects of the timeline due to the setting (a fighting arena), yet there is a great deal of potential for winks and references.

Star Wars: Hunters is an action arena game played from the third-person perspective. The game allows players to assume the roles of a broad variety of hero profiles, such as Stormtroopers, Jedi, as well as Wookies. This game is an online battle arena game with a cast of original heroes, each with their own set of skills. With the game, a competition called “Hunters of the Outer Rim” will be held. This competition will provide prizes to the most devoted and skillful hunters in the galaxy.

A wide variety of characters, including defected stormtroopers, Sith disciples, and bounty hunters, will be available for players to select from. Star Wars: Hunters has been under production since 2018, but very little information regarding the game’s mechanics has been shared with fans so far.

The Android version of Hunters has already undergone a “soft launch” in a limited number of areas.

  • Star Wars Eclipse

  • Release Date: Not announced yet
  • Platforms: Not Announced yet
  • Developer: Quantic Dream

Star Wars Eclipse is a brand-new action-adventure video game that was initially revealed at the Game Awards 2021. A number of stories surfaced at the beginning of the year saying that Star Wars: Eclipse might be at least five years ahead and that the launch trailer was published so early to generate buzz for casting. As this project was launched when it was still in the planning stages, we may have to wait several years before it is released.

In the upcoming Star Wars: Eclipse, developed by Quantic Dream, players will experience the High Republic era, which is a contrast from the studio’s previous games like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human.

The story is told from the perspective of a group of playable characters, each of whom is supposed to have their own backstory, goals, and traits, and who will have their own effects on the other characters and the journey as a whole. Outer Rim is a generally lawless part of the galaxy that contains inhospitable planets like Tattooine, which is where the events of Star Wars Eclipse take place. Due to the fact that it takes place during the time of the High Republic, which is several centuries before the events of the Star Wars film trilogy, you shouldn’t anticipate seeing too many familiar people.

Quantic Dream’s distinctive gaming and storytelling structure might set this game apart from previous Star Wars games, and this time period is mostly untapped in the Star Wars canon, at least in video game form.

  • Knights of the Old Republic Remake

  • Release Date: Not Announced yet
  • Platforms: PS5, PC
  • Developer: Saber Interactive

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the most frequently discussed game when discussing highly regarded Star Wars video games. The much-beloved role-playing game from 2003 will have a fresh new look and feel when it is remade and released for the PlayStation 5 and the personal computer.

Fans reacted positively to the news of the remake because it is widely considered to be the best Star Wars video game of all time. Set four thousand years before the events of the Star Wars films, the game follows the aftermath of an attack by the Sith designed to destroy the Jedi Order forever.

Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games are behind the remake; the former has been responsible for a number of successful remasters of older Star Wars video games. To make matters worse, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was put on hold indefinitely around the middle of the year, and it now appears that Aspyr has been replaced as the game’s primary developer.

It has been stated that the KOTOR remake will reconstruct the game “from the ground up,” however no information regarding the gameplay has been made public. The KOTOR Remake has likely been handed off to Saber Interactive, while its current status is unknown. The best-case scenario for this mess is that the game will be delayed significantly.

As we wait for news of the game’s progress, we simply cannot help but speculate on its potential outcome.

  • Release Date: Not Announced yet
  • Platforms: Not Announced yet
  • Developer: Respawn Entertainment

Even if Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as well as Star Wars: Hunters seem to be the only video game that are presently scheduled to be released in 2023, it does not mean that fans will not see more from the other games that are on the forthcoming docket for Lucasfilm Games.  Upon the announcement of the sequel to Star Wars Jedi, it was revealed that Respawn Entertainment will also be developing a single-person shooter Star Wars game.

Lovers of the first two Battlefront games will be pleased to hear that Peter Hirschmann, who contributed to both Pandemic games, is serving as the project’s game director. In the past, he was involved in the development of a large number of Star Wars video games, such as multiple Lego Star Wars games, and The Force Unleashed. Additionally, he worked on first-person shooters such as Metal of Honor and Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.

Little is known about either game, except that the strategy game is being predominantly created by Bit Reactor, a fresh studio established by former Firaxis programmers who served on XCOM and Civilization. There is currently no news on the setting or protagonists of these games.

As the development of the game had “only just begun” at the moment of the announcement, it is possible that it will be considerable time before we are provided with a definite release date or more information regarding the game.

  • Unnamed Star Wars strategy game

  • Release Date: Not Announced yet
  • Platforms: Not Announced yet
  • Developer: Bit Reactor

The news that Respawn will be developing a Star Wars strategy game was yet another unexpected turn of events. As a producer, Respawn Entertainment has a hand in this as well. An unnamed Star Wars strategy game was also announced alongside the FPS, and it is now in development as”production cooperation” with the newly formed firm Bit Reactor.

As Bit Reactor has openly said that the development of turn-based games similar to XCOM is one of its goals, it is highly possible that the yet-to-be-named strategy game will take some cues from the pioneering title in the strategy subgenre.

In short: the project is going to be produced by Respawn, but Bit Reactor is going to be in charge of developing it. Greg Foertsch, an experienced developer who has worked with Firaxis in the past on a variety of projects including Sid Meisner’s Civilisation series, has been tapped to lead the newly founded studio.

The unnamed strategic game will likely not be released for several years, just as Respawn’s first-person shooter.

  • Unnamed Star Wars open-world game

  • Release Date: Not Announced yet
  • Platforms: Not Announced yet
  • Developer: Ubisoft Massive

Ubisoft is presently collaborating with Disney as well as Lucasfilm Games to develop a brand-new open world Star Wars video game. Fans are really excited for an open-world game set in the universe of Star Wars, which means that Ubisoft Massive is going to feel a lot of pressure to live up to their fans’ expectations. Massive Entertainment, the same team that worked on both The Division and its sequel, is currently hard at work on “The Star Wars Project” for Ubisoft.

The game is being built on Ubisoft’s very own Snowdrop technology, and it will reportedly have an original scenario. Ubisoft’s art director Julian Gerighty stated in a blog post, “We aim to make it a special game in the saga with a gripping plot and cast of characters that gamers can relate to and engage with.”

It is currently unknown when the game will be released, because we’ve seen no gameplay footage. Because of the focus on the technology, it is very likely that it will be released on the most recent platforms and will make use of the capability of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

  • Amy Hennig’s Skydance Star Wars Game

The legendary author Amy Hennig is perhaps most recognized for her contributions to the uncharted game series, and the video game developer Skydance New Media are hard at work on a Star Wars-themed action-adventure game. The Star Wars video game with the newest announcement also has the highest level of secrecy.  “A narrative-driven, action-adventure game” is how the unnamed game is being billed by its developers.

Despite the fact that not much information has been disclosed about the venture, a report says that it could very well be a resuscitation of an earlier Star Wars effort that was ultimately canceled. A leak said that it would be going to bring back Project Ratag, a videogame that was originally in production at the EA studio Visceral and was set during the time of the Rebel Alliance. However, this has not yet been confirmed.

Fans of the Star Wars franchise have a lot to look forward to in the video game world over the next few years, from sequels as well as remakes to all-new adventures. Little specifics are currently available for most planned galactic games. While many of these endeavors are still in their infancy, Star Wars enthusiasts may have to wait a while for new video games following the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While numerous games are in the works, we should learn more about some of them in the coming years.
