Video game sales are very seasonal, however does free to play games fit into these equations? Do the holidays bring in increased revenue?

Holiday seasons typically brings a lot of spending, both for new games and for in-game spending on lifestyle games that people like playing. This is commonly reflected through in-game sales during the big holiday seasons, generally interwoven with community-anticipated in-game events and new content to play that is carefully timed to release when players have more time to play and money in their pockets to spend. In the west, that’s generally the holidays. In Asia, there’s a similar sales push during lunar new year and (in Japan) Golden Week, where shopping and gift-giving are culturally prevalent. People like buying things for themselves and giving in-game cash shop currency as gifts to their friends because they like playing the game and want to enjoy it during the holidays.
