Sega of America launches new California office

Global CEO Shuji Utsumi says that the location opening "represents a new era for one of the gaming world's most esteemed brands"

Sega of America announced that it's opened a new office in Irvine, California.

The location will house Sega and its subsidary Atlus' internal publishing departments in a single space.

"The opening of the new Sega of America headquarters in Irvine represents a new era for one of the gaming world's most esteemed brands," said Sega global CEO, Shuji Utsumi.

Utsumi added, "This new space helps to foster a genial and team-oriented culture to reinforce that purpose and create new stories and worlds that will entertain gamers for generations."

One of the office's goals will be facilitating media streaming opportunities for the North American team.

In terms of business activity, Sega Sammy Holdings reported back in October that the Sonic the Hedgehog series has sold 1.5 billion units as of March 2022.

Additionally, it was revealed that by the same month, 77% of the Persona 5 sales have been international.

As of last week, it was reported that Persona 5 Royal's multi-platform reached one million units sold in a month after their launch.
