The game started as a demo shown on Reddit, but picked up momentum when Badland art director Juhana Myllys offered to mix and match his distinct artwork with the gameplay. I told them I had already created some early concept art and design work for my next game and that it would fit perfectly into it.

Through this unique online network, Alan connected with Advanced Concept Art Course graduate Dogyeong (Do) Lee and Game Design Course graduate Alexios Vasilakis who both joined the Overwrite Interactive team. She was also responsible for the cover art and all the illustrated frames in the game’s opening cinematic.

What caught my attention wasn’t just her confidence on the panel but the fact that she was not only a student pursuing three majors at Wits University she was also the Lead Concept artist at Chroma Pixel Games , a game studio based in Zambia. In grade 10 I took art as a subject. Hard skills that I could make a living with.

Nice crisp retro art, but augmented by the hardware we have today: parallaxing, depth of field, warm glows, etc. No tutorials or hint systems or pansy-assed puzzles or catering to the mass-market or modernizing. Some puzzles will be hard, but all the puzzles will be fair. Nice big juicy icons full of pixels.
