Much of this image is built around the director as the sole creator and artist of the film. However, the harsh truth of filmmaking is also that there are many of the same geniuses behind the director, without whom we would never see the films we love. Therefore, Lubezki's work in this film could not fail to be noticed.

I’ll keep this spoiler-free and then let people who’ve seen it click the spoiler buttons for what I’m specifically talking about. A whole film of that would turn me full fanboy. Click for spoilery specifics. Finn , as a character concept, is new: a turncoat Stormtrooper. I enjoyed it a lot!

The ultimate way to make viewer 100% into the film is to use a harsh handheld camera, which was combined in the "Pusher" with one-shot sequences. The film literally tries to put an equal sign between the viewer and the protagonist, by making viewers a part of the story. Yes and no.

It's like Spec Ops: The Line tempering its military shooter glorification with an anti-war moral, or the pseudo-documentary film I, Tonya sensationalizing Tonya Harding's career while also blaming the viewer for it. Actors often hold up objects awkwardly so you can click on them. A high concept with a high execution.
