Shaders are programs that describe the traits of vertices and pixels. It also prepares the data (like the UVs) that will be used next by the Pixel Shader. The Pixel Shader runs once per each pixel and renders your object. Here you can apply textures (that’s why you need UVs), change colors, discard pixels etc.

The engine should be able to render and simulate 200+ lightweight game objects -- frame-animated sprites with simple collision, no fancy physics or shaders. I have to pay to use more than 1 font, or make an animation more than 5 seconds long? Reminder: for iOS, that means WebGL 1.0 and no WASM.) I didn't try to find out.

The OpenXR plugin for Godot now has an official release that can be found in the asset library. We had to go through a few iterations as we're now directly pulling the asset from the releases build by Githubs CI. Any feature that requires reading adjacent pixels requires a pass to be finished. This however comes at a tradeoff.

It holds a single sprite that is filled with white pixels. Select the Assets -> Prefabs -> Grid and then “Open” it for editing. Add a SpeedProvider to both assets. Choose one of the indicated locations, and observe how the character animates in a path from tile to tile until reaching the destination.
