Atari's re-focus on retro

GamesIndustry.biz

Atari has been considered a retro brand for decades now, but it hasn't always leaned into that designation. While licensed T-shirts and plug-and-play consoles have been a fairly consistent offering, the company's growth plans focused less on its own games and more on branching out to wearables, movies, gambling, blockchain, and hotels. An official release of the Kotor 2 missing content DLC/patch had been promised, then pulled back. It had been enough of the promise that a free game was offered to people who had bought the Kotor 2 rerelease. Why does that kind of rollback on an official plan happen? How is the decision to stop weighed against free stuff and bad PR?

Ask a Game Dev

I think it would help to provide a little more context as to what is going on. Way back in 2004, a game called KOTOR 2 shipped and was played by a lot of players. Many players did not like the ending, but the game had been in development for less than a year and Obsidian were on the hook to ship the game by the deadline. The game was regarded by many players as a flawed gem.

[3.8.1] Build Time is Terribly Slow

Cocos

Also raising this topic up, I think many of us will benefit if the build times will be optimized. But I dont thing that the build time is the most critical optimization that has to be made, because you do it once in a while when you have a new version. The important things to be fast and to be optimized are the local “run”, opening of the projects, entering animation mode, application of code changes and etc.

Bug Report - The position of the deactivated child is not updated

Cocos

No no no, the issue is entirely different Again, you have two objects, one is parent of another. You hide the child objects, you move the parent object, you show back the child object - and instead of being in the new position its still in the old position until you move the parent again. The engine reports that the child object is in the new position, you can even log it, but it will not update visually the position until something moves.
