I had fallen in love with the original Gameboy version of the game in 1999, and it seemed obvious to me that however Greg wanted the core gameplay to work (sim, puzzle, or RPG), we had to learn from Pokémon 's incredible bestiary. Gregg had committed to making our game a blend of cute and scary, and the concept art was too horrific.
